Toshiba Qosmio F50, Luxurious Multimedia Notebook

In the middle of the tight competition of businesses nowadays, many notebook manufacturers try to make a unique and innovative product that is different to other competitors. This step has been taken by Toshiba when they announced their newest product, Qosmio F50. With 15,4” screen, this notebook looks elegant and shining since it has a Vibe design and sheen plastic material. But, you may leave your foot print easily on its surface.

Thing that comes into unique that Qosmio F50 is embed with Quad Core HD Chip. The processor has a special duty to help the main processor running several multimedia applications. For example, to do a scaling, so that a DVD formatted movie can be looked like a High Definition movie. We can also use the processor for gesture control application, which means we can control the notebook just with our hand moves!

But unfortunately, the above concept turns different when it comes to reality. When I tried to open a DVD movie, the quality enhancement does not look significant. Some scenes in the movie looked broken and peculiar indeed.

The gesture control application does not run smoothly either. Based on the theory, we can wave our hand to run the Video application, or stand up our hand (like when we give a stop sign) to do a pause. But in fact, when I tried to move my hands, it often fails to catch my movement.

Quad Core HD chip does not take a great role to some standard applications and we still do not need it indeed. The combination of Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 Processor, 3 GB RAM, and GeForce 9600 GT graphical card are more than enough to run standard applications or gaming.

This USD 2.000 notebook looks very impressive from its facilities. Beside some standard connectors like USB and FireWire, it is also completed with eSATA and HDMI. As it made for multimedia notebook, it is completed with speakers from well known manufacturer, Harman/kardon. Four reflex speakers and subwoofers are installed which produce an amazing sound.
